Rewards for Justice is offering a reward of up to $5 million for information on Abderraouf Ben Habib Jdey, also known as Farouq al-Tunisi. Jdey has been closely linked to al-Qa’ida (AQ) operatives and involved in plans to hijack airliners and other terrorist operations. Jdey is an associate of terrorist suspect Faker Ben Abdelaziz Boussora, and the two may have traveled together.
Jdey was born in Tunisia in 1965. He emigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1991 and became a Canadian citizen in 1995. In 1999, Jdey left Canada for Afghanistan, where he received terrorist training and combat experience. He fought against the Afghan Northern Alliance and authored a letter stating his intention to become a martyr for jihad. During this time, he also appeared in a martyrdom video found in an AQ leader’s house in 2001.
Jdey returned to the Montreal area in 2001. After consorting with other extremists about joining the jihad, he left Canada. Authorities are concerned that he may return to Canada or the United States to plan or participate in an attack.
