Attack on USS Cole

Aden, Yemen | October 12, 2000

On October 12, 2000, two suicide bombers filled a small boat with explosives and rammed the boat into the USS Cole as it rested in the harbor at Aden, Yemen. The resulting explosion opened a large hole into the side of the ship, killing 17 sailors and wounding more than 30 others. The attack was planned by members of al-Qaida, including indicted operatives Jamal Mohammad al-Badawi and Fahd Mohammed Ahmed al-Quso.

The Rewards for Justice program is offering a reward of up to $5 million for information that brings to justice those responsible for this attack.
