On October 23, 1983, a truck bomb exploded in the housing compound of U.S. and French members of the Multinational Force in Lebanon. The attack killed hundreds of servicemen, including 241 U.S. Marines. The Multinational Force was in Lebanon as part of an international peacekeeping effort. Hezbollah is believed to have orchestrated the attack, acting with support and funding from Iran.
The Rewards for Justice program is offering a reward of up to $5 million for information that brings to justice those responsible for these attacks.
